Progress for the Radio Centro Laboral

The Radio Centro Laboral is a part of the Mobile Voices project of IDEPSCA. The RCL is currently housed at the Downtown Community Job Center (1813 S Main St, Los Angeles, CA) and transmits its programming from Monday through Friday from 7am until 4pm. Currently, the RCL is operated by Luis Gonzalez a member of the Downtown Community Job Center.

On Friday February 8, 2013, a reporter (Luis Sandoval) from Univision's Despierta America arrived at the Center to interview Luis and to film some of the daily Center activities. This episode was aired the following Tuesday February 12, 2013 during the morning show.

The RCL is part of a non-profit called IDEPSCA. It is focused on airing music and on reporting on community events and news relevant to the low-income and immigrant community in Los Angeles. Little by little, the RCL has been progressing in various forms from obtaining better resources to obtaining better training.

During the week of February 18, 2013, Luis noted another accomplishment: Thanks to an interview by Luis Sandoval from Univision, the RCL reached a peak at 1300 listeners - a great leap from the daily average of 100 listeners.

The Downtown Community Job Center and the Radio Centro Laboral would like to thank Univision and Luis Sandoval for their support. We hope that our radio can continue to progress during the coming days and months at the same time that we attempt to switch from an internet-based radio to an FM-station in October 2013.
